For the 28th Anniversary of the Santa Clarita Valley Rose Society, Kitty Belendez and Steve Jones will be updating and revising a 4th Edition of our book “Growing Roses in Santa Clarita Valley,” which includes all aspects of rose culture such as planting, pruning, spraying, mulching, and fertilizing.
The glossy front and back covers (both outside and inside) feature new full-color photos of 45 different popular roses (representing six additional color photos compared to the previous edition). There are 73 black & white photos throughout the inside of the book, an increase of 47 new black & white photos. Due to upgraded technology changes over the past nine years, all photos are vastly improved in quality and detail.
There is a section on types of roses, a handy index, and the Minimalist Rose Care Calendar is included. Additionally, we have included a chart of American Rose Society color classes. The glossy cover has been upgraded to include color photos of popular roses of all types, such as Verdun, Gemini, St. Patrick, Night Owl, Shadow Dancer, Francois Rabelais, Yolande d’Aragon, Bees Knees, and St Patrick. All of the color photos are of prize-winning roses that were photographed by Kitty at rose shows or in members’ gardens. The inside back cover includes color photos of rose insects, diseases, and other rose maladies such as aphids, spider mites, mosaic virus, and powdery mildew. Inside the book both Kitty and Steve contributed their black & white photography of insects and diseases.
The section on “Recommended Roses” is being completely updated from the last printing and features Fragrant Roses, Heat Tolerant Roses, and Exhibition Roses. The book also includes a complete list of Consulting Rosarians and Master Rosarians that are current SCVRS members, and their contact information.
The book is 48 pages produced on 60# smooth white text on the inside, plus 100# bright white glossy cover, all printed on a high grade laser printer. The book measures 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and is soft cover saddle-stitch bound. The authors are Master Rosarians Steve Jones and Kitty Belendez, Co-founders of the Santa Clarita Valley Rose Society in 1992. We plan to produce a quantity of only 100.

The price is TO BE ANNOUNCED. SCVRS members ONLY. Plus an additional charge per book for postage, packaging & handling if you wish to have it mailed to you. All proceeds go to the Santa Clarita Valley Rose Society, a non-profit educational organization.
